Although not out yet, Scarecrow from the Darkfall forums has compiled a list of the features that have been confirmed to be included in the big November patch. There are some really nice tidbits here, but the list is not complete, there is still more to be revealed. Impressive for a small team.

Expansion title: "Conquer the Seas"

Revealed items with source links:

Darkfall Dynamic Lore System

not normal MMO stand-alone Events of which you might see for Halloween or for Christmas.
These Dynamic events allow players to not only impact the event itself but also the game and the gameworld directly.
If a specific group or a specific player does something outstanding during a Dynamic Event, they will become the inspiration for future storyline development. The event team is actively building on the outcome of past events.
They are also part of a chain of events leading up to world events, items, and/or open up new content and storylines.

Siege Mechanics

Major revamp of the siege and conquest mechanics
Mr.White

Local Banking
Bank access in player owned houses. This will allow house owners to store crafting materials, loot, reagents etc in their house but it's stored locally only - meaning you do not have access to the content of this specific bank vault from other banks in the world.
Mr.White

Part two of character specialization system

this time some much needed love for archery and melee combat
Claus

Archery "love"
Jumpshot allows you to jump and fire a bow at a 10 percent penalty on max mana.
Aquatic Shot allows you to use a bow under water at a 5 percent penalty on max mana.
Mage-Killer will give you bonus damage against users wielding a staff but completely blocks your ability to use elemental, arcane, and necromancy magic.
Mr.White

Wildlife Additions
This new type of AI will be roaming throughout the world and react quite differently then their aggressive counterparts. We have also been told that those will be quite numerous and spread in much bigger radius and areas not limited by any artificial camp range.
The idea behind these new type of AI is of course to add to the immersion while the same time creating new ways of gathering resources. *
Mr.White

Boats
Many changes and additions to ship building, sea combat and sea objectives
Claus

Player Vendors
Player owned local vendors
Claus

Racial Skills

The first set of racial skills
Claus
Orks will be dealing more damage with greataxes
Humans will have longer nourishment duration from food
Dwarves will be able to craft more durable armor
Resfelm

Claus

New Free Spawning Objects

Claus

Item Changes
Items will be receiving some adjustments to their stats
Heavier armors will be getting increased elemental protection
Weapons of high rank will be getting increased damage
Resfelm

Crafting

Crafting will also receive a bit more attention as the related skills will skill up faster when making higher rank items. This already happens for weapon crafting but now this will also apply to more crafting skills such as armor smithing and alchemy.
Resfelm

Spells
a system that will apply a cool down to spells depending on their use. So, when casting a high damage AOE spell for example, all your AOE's will have a cool down applied.

It's shaping up! J

If I had not went with Fallen earth, Darkfall would have been my game. It was the FFA PvP that made me hold off, Then the next day I saw FE.
But reading this, It sounds as if DF has a lot of greats things going in. Sounds fun, Maybe after Xmas, I can look into making DF my 2nd MMO.

Interesting. I am very curious about this game and about this expansion but I am not sure about the community. No matter how interesting or different a game is, the community makes or break a game imho. Thanks for posting, will have to keep this game on my radar.

There are some unsavory types in game, but also a lot of good people as well. I think a lot of the up and coming and latest additions will balance the player set. Personally, I'm really not much of a PVPer, but I love the element of danger that always exists in the world. With the right group this game has just about everything. Massive, seamless, non-instanced world, player shops, housing, ships, mounts, farming, fishing, crafting. Maybe we should get an MMO voices guild together? :)

I would be interested in trying it out in a few weeks to a month too if anyone else was interested in playing together.

On second thought, however, I'd rather wait for the trial. I'm a bit of a carebear.
Beau Turkey Comment by Beau Turkey on November 8, 2009 at 8:20am
It's funny that Anu says he's a carebear while having an EVE avatar! It really points out how EVE works, and what makes it successful: you can avoid the jerks if you want to. While I think Darkfall is actually pretty darn wicked, those few bad apples are allowed to be openly bad, and that ruined it for me last time. I met mostly cool people, but it only takes one guy following you around for an entire EVENING to make you go "do I really want to have to deal with this?"

But yeh, it seems that once you find your group and once you get it going, the game is fantastic. I would love to try it again sometime...where's the TRIAL? hehe
Anuviel Comment by Anuviel on November 8, 2009 at 11:06am
Haha yeah I realised the irony of that comment after I posted. I've always hated PvP in games like WoW but I love the tactics of EVE combat and it makes PvP a lot more worthwhile for me. I started EVE about 20 days ago and I've already lost around 10 ships and 1 pod. It takes quite a long time to catch up to everyone else when you start playing but even so I'm trying to throw myself in there with the big boys, and you're right, the best part is I can just avoid them if I need to :) The difference between EVE and Darkfall is, as you say, you can have one asshole following you around the whole night just pissing you off to the point where you want to cancel your sub... I'm not sure my new interest in PvP would stretch THAT far. I can just imagine everyone running around naked and ignoring gear... It's like Runescape back in the day, you wouldn't go PKing in a full set of rune armour cause you'd be too scared to lose it. I quit Runescape one day because I had finally got my hands on a full set of addy and subsequently got poisoned by a scorpion. It was either stand in the same spot in the desert until a) another scorpion spawned, b) someone came and helped me or c) i moved and tried to find help. I chose c) and died about 15 seconds later :P I don't know if I could take that in Darkfall... imagine fishing for 5 hours only to get killed on your way back to the bank or something... all that time wasted.
Anuviel Comment by Anuviel on November 8, 2009 at 11:08am
I'm really toying with the idea of trying it out though, but I think it would be like EVE insofar as you'd need to play with a group of people you know aren't going to stab you in the back and teabag your corpse as soon as you've earned their trust :P
Alik Steel Comment by Alik Steel on November 8, 2009 at 11:29am
If you can't teabag a friend, Then who can you teabag? Just saying...
